Glenglassaugh
Established in 1875 by Col. James Moir at Sandend Bay, Glenglassaugh Distillery quickly gained recognition for its quality whisky, leading to initial prosperity. Managed by Moir and his nephews until 1892, it was then acquired by Highland Distillers. Following a complete reconstruction in 1960, the distillery continued production until 1986, after which it ceased operations for over two decades.
In December 2008, a group of investors revived Glenglassaugh, and in 2013, the BenRiach Distillery Company acquired it, committing to its revitalization through dedicated investment and care. Glenglassaugh employs premium Scottish barley and traditional distilling methods, emphasizing quality. Despite industry trends toward automation, its spirit remains handcrafted by a skilled team. The finest casks are carefully chosen for the slow maturation of its whisky in coastal warehouses.
